More Premier Play Changes - Introducing the Magic World Cup!

Before the 2012 season begins at Grand Prix Austin in early January, Wizards of the Coast is announcing the following changes to the premier play tournament structure and Planeswalker Points system. These adjustments are a culmination of an extensive review to the changes we announced in September and November. Included in these changes are:
  • Modifications to Planeswalker Points multipliers and standings
  • The debut of the World Magic Cup
  • The launch of the new Pro Players Club
  • Review of Pro Tour invitations
  • Thresholds for Grand Prix byes
  • Renaming the 2012 World Championship to the Magic Players Championship

Announcing Avacyn Restored

Magic's May 2012 set, code-named "Roll," is called Avacyn Restored. Although it's the third set of the Innistrad block, it will be a large set. This means that Innistrad Block Constructed will be composed of all three sets, but Avacyn Restored will be drafted by itself. Sealed events will use six Avacyn Restored booster packs.

Eternal Magic RM5,000 Super Cup Event Coverage

Hi! My apologies for not covering this event myself as I was busy playing for the Cup itself - I came within a single game's reach of clinching the title in last year's edition and I was pretty stoked at a second chance when I managed to lock myself into the top 8 after a 5-0-2 performance in the swiss. I know it's a poor excuse - I ended up crashing in the Semis, totally dejected, but I know the event coverage was in good hands because Buzzpop.net's own Nik was on board - even doing round by round feature match coverage!

13 Grand Prix and Pro Tour Locations Announced for 2012 Season 2!

Barcelona highlights season 2's Pro Tour while 13 Grand Prix locations are announced with GP Manila, Philippines being the closest in June followed by Yokohama, Japan and Shanghai, China!

Eternal Magic Announces their 2012 Open Series!

Eternal Magic made a really exciting announcement this morning on Facebook and 1mtg.org by introducing the 2012 Eternal Magic Open Series! 2 Open tournaments a weekend every month that gives out EPs that will lead into a Players Club with levels and benefits! 


According to a forum post on 1mtg.org it seems that the details are 80% set in stone so far only so expect changes!
