The rumours are true.

Inserted into Zendikar Boosters are 90 different Alpha and Beta used / played cards that are were hundreds of US dollars. Already the word is out that a lucky player snagged a Mishra's Workshop worth around USD250 in Decards Enterprise's pre-release on Saturday.

DCI Judge Coordinator sent judges a quick FAQ about this to the judges which verifies it officially. Full email below.

Events have begun in Japan, so Zendikar is [O]fficially upon us.

Rather than answer questions piecemeal, and to give you the tools you need in your role as the talkers in your communities, here is the complete rundown of what I can say in regards to Zendikar...
Q: I heard that there are vintage cards in Zendikar boosters - is it correct?
A: Yes, certain authentic vintage cards have been inserted in some booster packs for Zendikar.

Q: Are the vintage cards real? Or are they reprints?
A: These cards are actual original cards, not reprints.

Q: How many vintage cards are in the set?
As a general policy, we don't disclose collation for a given card set. There are over 90 different vintage cards.

Q: Why did Wizards insert vintage cards in Zendikar boosters?
A: The cards fit the game play and theme of the Zendikar set which is about 'deadly perils and priceless treasures'.

Q: Which vintage cards did you insert?
Consistent with the game play and theme of the set, we included some of the most powerful cards in Magic's history.

Q: Can I play these vintage cards in a tournament?
A: These vintage cards retain their current status in the tournament environment. They are allowed in certain organized play formats that can be found on www.magicthegathering.com.

Q: Are vintage cards inserted in all Zendikar boosters? Including reprints?
Vintage cards, like all cards in Magic, are not available in all packs. We do not disclose collation information.

Q: Are vintage cards inserted in Magic Online Zendikar boosters?
No. No vintage cards are inserted in Magic Online Zendikar boosters.

To recap:
Yes, vintage cards are in boosters. Yes, they're originals, not reprints.
No, you can't play in your limited Zendikar event with pre-Zendikar cards.
No, we can't talk about which cards, how many have been inserted, or where they came from.
Yes, the MTR already covers this somewhat new situation (foil Lightning Bolts in Nemesis, anyone?).
If someone opens a "priceless treasure," they should keep it and enjoy. The truck with the "deadly perils" boxes had a horrific accident, so the only deadly perils this weekend are the traps across the table from you. ;-)

Zendikar is a new world for Magic: The Gathering, and is the first set in the Zendikar block. It features 249 black-bordered cards, including randomly inserted premium versions of all cards in the set. It will be available in booster packs, intro packs, and fat packs.
*This event has a limit of 36 players, players who are interested in the above event are recommended to RSVP for his/her seats through facebook to avoid disappointment.

So far, details are scarce, but an announcement is made on MTG-Malaysia.com that a new Magic store is going to be opened for business soon and it will be opened at where Manawerx Trading is at.

What does this means for Manawerx remains to be seen, as there is no official announcements so far, but the word out there is that it will be closing down it's business as the new store opens.

Planechase Release Events are a great way to experience and celebrate the release of the newest way to play multiplayer Magic – Planechase! All participants receive a Tazeem promo plane card (while supplies last).

Release Event Format

Each player will receive one of the four Planechase Game Packs. The game pack contains a 60-card Magic deck and a 10-card planar deck.

Planechase Release events will use an open play format. Players will be placed into game groups of 3-5 players. When a game finishes, players can play again or be regrouped into another game with new players.

Each player will receive a Tazeem promo plane card (while supplies last)

After a long hiatus... MagicMalaysia.net is giving Friday Night Magic a chance under the spotlight!

Held every week (not necessarily on Friday nights!), FNM events are meant to be fun, casual stepping stones into the more competitive world of Magic. Even if you don't aim to be the next world champion, you can still sling cards for fun, perhaps even snagging an exclusive foil FNM promo card in the process!

FNM events have significantly less impact on players' ratings than most tournaments;
prize cards are available to participants in other ways than just to the winners; and
for rules enforcement, the emphasis is on teaching players the correct ways to play!
